OTTUMWA-Several area residents were recognized for their outstanding photography during the Seventh Annual Eagle Watch on Saturday at Bridge View Center. The event, sponsored by the Wapello County Trails Council, featured educational programs on birds of prey, bald eagle viewing, and a photography contest, sponsored by The Photo Shop and Hy-Vee Drug Store.
First, second, and third place awards were given to photographs in five categories-eagles; barns; black and white; youth; and open. Approximately 100 entries were submitted. $875.00 was awarded in cash prizes, contributed by the following sponsors: Bowling RV Sales, Elliott Oil Company, Hy-Vee Drug Store, McCune and Reed Insurance, MidWestOne Bank, South Ottumwa Savings Bank, and The Photo Shop.
